Founded in 1950 under Primer Zhou Enlai, the China National Acrobatic Troupe (CNAT) is the only national acrobatic performing troupe established in China.
CNAT combines tradition with innovation by integrating traditional Chinese culture and top level acrobatics art. The Troupe has performed in more than 115 countries and regions with a number of diverse programs such as Chinese Soul, Legend in Wonderland, The Legend of Magic, Top Acrobatic Class, Spectacular Acrobatics, The Star Dream and Splendid. The shows have been awarded 48 gold medals in a variety of international and national competitions including:
- Gold Magic Stick Award at the 16th International Star Magic Festival in Monte-Carlo, Monaco.
- French Republic President Award at the 24th and 26thTomorrow Circus Festival, France.
- Golden Clown Award at the 28th International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo, Monaco.
CNAT has its own acrobatic training center with about 200 performers, a circus as well as the Li Ning Magic Workshop which is dedicated to the training of magicians. Meanwhile, Beijing International Art School, directed by China National Acrobatic Troupe, has become a comprehensive art academy teaching acrobatics, dance, fine arts, film performing arts and Chinese Kungfu. The school welcomes students from China but also from foreign countries such as Russia, France, Spain, Korea and Vietnam.
